Owen from Mug Revolution will also be unveiling the official handmade coffee mug of Ignite Bend. That by itself is worth a trip downtown for lunch… but watch here for photos of this great collectors’ item if you can’t make it today.

Kindly RSVP here or there so that we know how many people to expect… thanks!

It’s your Ignite, too!

Since Ignite is a community event, we want YOU to help us decide what our first Ignite Bend will be like. It doesn’t matter who you are… if it will be your first Ignite or your fifth… if your organization is sponsoring the event… if you submitted a proposal… even whether you plan to attend the event… YOU are invited to help us out at the…

Ignite Bend 1 Speaker Selection Vote
Thursday, January 22, 2009 at noon
tbd loft, 55 NW Minnesota St, Bend, OR

Here’s how it will work! We’ll have copies of the presentation proposals available, but we encourage you to check them out ahead of time (here). Everyone will be given a ballot with SEVEN** slots. Fill out your ballot with your favorite proposal at the top and continue on down the list. Heck, you can even vote for your OWN proposal if you want (and… you should!). If you have a question about a presentation, side conversations are OK. If the presenter is at the meeting you are welcome to ask them more about their idea. If someone left a comment about the topic on our website we’ll let you see those, too. And if you don’t have time to spend you are welcome to just fill out your ballot and go on your way!

After the ballots are collected we’ll assign points – the first choice on each ballot will get 7 points, second choice will get 6 points, and so on down the list. We’ll tally up the points from all the ballots and the presentations with the highest seven scores will be the ones selected to present at Ignite Bend 1 (the remainder will be alternates).

Want to help out? GREAT! We’d appreciate a quick RSVP here or there so that we know how many people to expect… thanks!

**I thought there would be EIGHT presentations at Ignite Bend 1? Why do I only get to vote for SEVEN? Because traditionally, the first presentation at every Ignite is “What is Ignite?” and we are choosing to follow this tradition.

Now comes the hard part…

Thanks to everyone that submitted a talk for Ignite Bend 1! Over the next several days our selection committee will be reading through your ideas and will pick the seven talks that will be included at the event. Remaining ideas will be ranked and considered “alternates” in case someone is unable to present at Ignite Bend 1.

If you have any thoughts about the submissions that you think would be helpful to our selection committee please feel free to leave a comment about any of the entries.

What do the iPhone, Wii, and Ignite Bend have in common?

Ignite Bend 1 has sold out!

That’s right, all of our (free) advance tickets have been reserved. Now there are only two ways to try to get in the doors and enjoy Ignite Bend 1 live, and in person:

  1. Wait in the standby line the night of the event. If there are no-shows we’ll admit people as space allows starting at 7:15pm.
  2. Be a speaker! There is still time to submit your proposal for a speaker slot at Ignite Bend 1. Speakers will receive two tickets (for themselves and a guest) and a unique coffee mug handmade by Owen Dearing of Mug Revolution.

Any family friendly topic is fair game. It can be geeky, serious, funny… anything goes at Ignite Bend! Take a chance and share your burning ideas!
