Biography
I grew up north of Fargo North Dakota, then somehow ended up teaching snowboarding and remodeling homes in Aspen Colorado. My first work truck was a 1970 mint green Volkswagon Bug with a white driverside door. I astounded colleagues when I strapped a 40 foot ladder and a wheelbarrow to the roof.
Married the girl of my dreams, got a Jack Russell terrier and moved to Bend.
Description
I knew that I functioned well within deadlines, so I just picked one. I would give myself 30 minutes to draw each frog whether I finished it or not.
The task quickly escalated into something between Herculean and Sisyphean. I want to tell you what it was like for me to draw a hundred frogs. I want to explain the cramped fingers, the late nights, the early mornings, the bottles of wine -and pots of coffee-, the hair I pulled out, the pressure and relief of getting through each group of frogs. Not being able to 'complete' each frog, just stopping at 30 minutes, drove me crazy at first, but then it became more and more about the process and the discipline and less about the limitations.
This experiment in frogness rekindled my faith in myself and myself as an artist - a huge part of me I had pushed aside for too many years. Too many frogless years
