Biography
Kenny LaPoint, Housing and Resident Services Director for Housing Works (Central Oregon’s Regional Housing Authority) and Families Forward, has over 5 years of social service and non-profit work as well as 11 years in the real estate industry with over $70 million in closed transactions. Other experience includes residential and commercial property sales and management. Mr. LaPoint has received NeighborWorks America certifications in first time home buyer education, post-purchase education, housing counseling, lending principles, state and federal compliance, foreclosure intervention and default counseling, credit counseling and reverse mortgage counseling. Additional trainings include property listing, income property sales, mortgages, property management, purchase contracts, real estate marketing, Nan McKay’s executive management course and recently completed Advocates College through Neighborhood Partnerships. Mr. LaPoint also serves as the Co-Chair of Central Oregon’s Homeless Leadership Coalition; he sits on the City of Bend’s Affordable Housing Committee, is an Executive Committee member of NAHRO (National Association of Housing Redevelopment Officials). Other service is comprised of Central Oregon’s Bridging Gaps Advisory Committee the Family Access Network (FAN) Steering Committee and a member of Icon City’s Board of Directors. Kenny lives in beautiful Central Oregon with his lovely wife Susannah and two wonderful boys.

Description
BeRemedy is a text campaign used to connect urgent needs in Central Oregon with the community and the people who can meet those needs. Through a weekly text message, BeRemedy sends out an urgent need to our community. Those who are able to help in meeting that need can reply to the text and they are then put in contact with a person who arranges delivery of the item to the person/family who needs it. To sign up for BeRemedy you simply text the word "Icon" to 80565. You are then signed up to receive the weekly text. The text line is regulated by the FCC so we can only send out 5 text messages per month, guaranteeing the user that they are not receiving SPAM. You may also elect to be removed from the text list by simply texting the words "Stop it" in reply to the text. So far BeRemedy has been operating in Central Oregon for about two years. Each need we have sent out has been met within minutes and often we receive numerous responses and are able to help other folks who might have similar needs.
