If you had 5 minutes on stage what would you say? What if you only got 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds?
Around the world geeks have been putting together Ignite nights to enlighten us – quickly.
It's a Dog's life: Aka: It's My Life
Long time Bend resident
I’m a 56 years old woman with two adult children, now an empty nester. As a full time teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing, I experience the great pleasure of a flexible school schedule. This leaves me with plenty of time to spend doing the things that I love. I’m a Netflicks fanatic, love to knit, read and enjoy all that Bend has to offer. My girlfriends and I enjoy paddle boarding, snowshoeing, and of course, eating out at Happy Hour. The thing that takes up the majority of my time is my grand-dog Rocket, a three year old German Shorthair Pointer. Our favorite past time is hitting every dog park around town daily; both, for my scheduled dose of exercise, as well as his necessary one.
Daily trips to the dog park are more than just a mere walk in the park. Once thought of as a method for wearing down the exuberant three year old pointer, aptly named "Rocket", these walks have become much more: A connection between a woman; with herself, and a woman's best friend; her dog. Humor, embarrassment and personal insight are a few of the many emotions that surface as a result of these daily walks. From wanting to deny the true age of the disobedient dog, out of occasional embarrassment, to the emphasis on discreet potty etiquette, as well as sharing the intimate details of my life, these are things left for just Rocket and I to experience. Who would have thought that a surrogate grandchild would lead into so much personal insight and be the highlight of my day?
