Biography
I am a 52 year old Jewish artist, environmentalist, daughter of a Holocaust survivor, mother, sister, and granddaughter of an amazing woman named Bella, also a survivor of the Holocaust. I am passionate about creativity and enthusiasm. My personal mission is to teach people all over the world how to take their trash and turn it into beautiful, useful products. Specifically, plastic bags. My grandmother, Bella, taught me how to sew and emphasized, "no waste, ever." (Add a Yiddish, Russian, German accent to that statement!) I am practicing my art form here in Bend by rescuing hundreds of thousands of plastic bags and vinyl billboards and banners and turning them into pieces of art, sculptural as well as functional.
Description
We use how many plastic bags every minute around the world? How many of those end up in the oceans and waterways? How many fish and fowl die each day due to ingesting this plastic waste? What can I do to change these numbers? I can get out there and teach as many people as possible how to create beautiful and useful products out of plastic bags. Developing income generating projects using free materials: garbage found everywhere you look- and all one needs is an iron and a sewing needle and thread.
